#ScorpioReviews - The Flash (2023)

The Flash movie covers many of the Flashpoint key moments but also changed many events. It is an ok adaptation of the Flashpoint but it could had been a lot better. My incial thoughts were that this movie would be a mess. Most DC films were failing and this movie was being delayed a lot. Then the problems with Ezra Miller and the constant reshoots and chnage of scripts must have affected the movie. First the CGI was a mess, supposedly it was justified with Flash breaking time. But no, the CGI was a disaster all the time. I feel they concentrated their CGI usage for the on screen time with the double Ezra Flash appearing together most of the movie.
That was probably too much. After everything Ezra did outside the film he should have been changed. But we see why that didn't happened since the whole movie would had needed to reshoot everything since he appeared in most of the scenes.
Next, adding Michael Keaton was amazing and seeing him in alot of the scenes make it worth it. We saw him a lot in action and also as the strategist. He was given an important role like he deserved. But I feel a Thomas Wayne Batman would had also been great. Seeing the father of Bruce turn into Batman would have been great.
Now the "Dark Flash". I don't know much about the Dark Flash except he was an alternate version of Wally West. I don't understand why they didn't just make it Reverse Flash or Zoom. Hey, even Red Death Flash since he already had the Batman costume. They really missed an opportunity there. The look of the Dark Flash character looked like the constant spike rocks they used in most of the DCEU. Don't know why they believed it would be awesome to keep using it. For Kryptonian rock maybe it made sense since it was constant on HenryCavill appearances but looked weird on Dark Flash. Most villains appeared with some spike rock look.
Movimg on to Superman, the way they changed skinny Superman with Supergirl was great. Sasha Calle did great as Supergirl and it feel she had enough scenes important scenes. At times it felt she had more scenes but it seem a bit rushed like they cut a lot more. At least they kept the key moments. Some scenes look like they were building for a dramatic moment but the scenes ended abruptly. Seems like they had many reshoots or deleted scenes. Now at the end we saw many "cameos" but as AI. They went crazy with the AI and even do we saw many classic version of the Superheroes I still wonder why the CW versions didn't get included, again. CW Flash added Ezra in their show yet they couldn't add Grant Gustin to the film? I know that after Arrow and probably half of Flash the CW ruin the shows. From amazing driven Superheroe shows they turn them to lazy written soap operas. The scripts were just a disappointment. But the actors like Stephen Amell, Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist deserve a chance for a film appearance. This was a perfect opportunity to add Grant and Melissa and again they wasted it. Just at the very least they should had appeared at the end. Hopefully they can still be called in the new DC film timeline. It is weird why they are not called to appear but they were called for the bonus interviews. There is a section were they interview all the actress that played Supergirl in the different projects. Overall it was an ok movie. They created so much hype as being better than Endgame, Spider-Man No Way Home etc but it wasn't. Again, NoWayHome was an Amazing Fan Service but lacked the proper elements for an amazing movie. But The Flash 2023 lacked a lot of huge moments and really didn't affected much. The Flashpoint event is a huge deal in the DC comics but here it was just ok. Even as a fan service movie it lacked a lot of more content. So yes at the end it did disappoint for exaggerating a movie that we shouldn't had expected much from. Again as a movie it was ok and Keaton as Batman was probably the best of the whole movie. I would definitely recommend this movie but to watch it just once. I will rated 7.0, was going to go lower but it did had many accurate Flashpoint moments and few amazing fight scenes. Also couldn't go higher because they missed a huge opportunity to fully reset the DCEU or at least establish the new path DC would take.

#ScorpioReviews - Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Shazam! Fury of the Gods was a disappointing movie that lacks excitement and originality. The plot is predictable and simple, with Shazam and his family facing a new threat from ancient gods and monsters. They had so many people with powers but ultimately just needed Shazam and they could had avoid so much if that happened sooner. The CGI was decent and the dragon design is impressive, but the action scenes are boring and repetitive. The comedy is one of the few redeeming qualities of the movie, as most of the jokes and funny moments landed well. The movie also has a lot of references to other franchises, including the rival Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is surprising and amusing. The fighting scenes were also dull because it was basically just pushing people around and moving fast. The ending was good but convenient to the point of why it happened and why it didn't happened before. The ending is somewhat satisfying, but it does not make up for the rest of the movie.

Overall, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is a disappointing sequel that fails to deliver on its potential. It was a very simple movie starting from the plot, characters, motivation and development of the story and even its conflicts. Everything felt so simple and predictable without many moments that cause an impact. It is only recommended for DC fans or maybe even just Shazam fans who want to see how the story ends. Otherwise, it is not worth watching. I give this movie a 6.0 out of 10, because it seems that they tried their best with what they had. Even do it feels like a movie lower than 6.0 it had some moments that save the movie because it wasn't a poorly made movie but it felt it had so much potential. Almost felt as if they finished it as compromised but they probably had something else in mind.

#ScorpioReviews - Antman & The Wasp Quantumania

Antman & The Wasp Quantumania

This movie received many bad reviews and many said it was a great disappointment  but it wasn't. This was a great movie. As a standalone movie, marvel movie, Superheroe movie it really was great.
We got to explore more of the Quantum realm and finally started the Kang plot. Loki gave us an insight of what was coming but this began now. The movie got right to the point and didn't waste any time in presentations. We saw a lot more action and seriousness than other Antman movies. But they still kept the comedy and knew how to combine them perfectly. We got to see more of the hero side of Scott, Hope, Janet and even Hank. Hank is supposed to be the real Ant-man and we finally got to see him more in action. Also, we got to see Cassie which Katheryn Newton was the perfect choice.
I love how Marvel is introducing the new young heroes. They don't just appear as the saviors and without mistakes. In the contrary, they show them as inexperienced and cocky but as the movie progress they mature and learn how to be a real hero. Plus we still see how much more their characters can grow.

The Quatum realm looked beautiful and seeing a Quantum civilization was amazing. We were introduced to new characters that were fun and needed for the final fight. I believe M.O.D.O.K origin was changed but this somehow made more sense. Not sure if this is another version of the comics but was a great idea. The Quantum relam looked visually beautiful from the blend of colors, designs and even the unique creatures made it an amazing world. Not only did this movie continued the Antman movies but it also showed us what is coming next. I can't believe this movie was severely criticize when it was actually great. The final fight was beautifully executed. They had them fight a powerful being beyond their abilities but they still manage to beat him and it made sense. Also, Kang portrayed by Jonathan Mayors was amazing. We could see his calmness, desperation, anger and even the hate when his character was losing. Specially that hate near the end was amazing. The final fight was exciting, inspiring, emotional and hopeful. It was a great final battle and everyone had a crucial role.
Overall, this movie was very carefully done and it showed. I would definitely recommend people to watch it. This movie had many great moments and it was such a joy to watch. The characters, plot, length, and preview of the Marvel MCU was great. I will give this movie a solid 8.0. It had a little bit of everything and maybe even needed a little bit of more context of their interest of the Quantum realm. Maybe Janet not telling anything to her family was also annoying at times. But at the end even all this was needed for the story to develop so overall it was a great movie.

#ScorpioReviews - The Super Mario Bros. Movie

The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Wow this was an amazing movie. Few times you can watch a trailer and feel the movie is great, they can't go wrong. It was great, everything was in place and we saw a little bit of everything from the Mario video game world. From soundtracks ,sfx, characters, different games, accuracy, refrences etc. But they didn't just added as much as they could, they manage to add everything in a well written plot. We even saw how the characters matured and got over their fears. Not only did it aim VideoGame fans but it also target kids and families which express great lessons. Saying it was a perfect movie would be too much. But without comparing to other live action movies and just focusing on how they adapt the Mario video game into an animated movie, it was pretty good. Probably one of the best video games adaptation.

In general it was just awesome, if I had to give some downsides about this movie I could point out only small stuff. Even do it added a lot of characters maybe it missed adding some characters or at least one. Bowser could have had more screen time and Bowser design looked a bit weird at times the head size didn't matched the body. Also, maybe the running time? The movie was so good that it went by so fast. Maybe if they had added at least 30 more minutes it would have worked. Then again maybe it worked because they didn't extend it.

Overall it was amazing. I would definitely recommend this movie to any age. Even I would like to watch it again. Even in the Spanish trailers it sounded like they had a great cast. Hopefully it was better dubbed than Sonic. I will give this movie a solid 9.0. It was just amazing and could be the start of a huge animated franchise. From more Mario video games to SmashBros, MarioParty, sports etc there is so much to use. But maybe to avoid taking too long a good plot story with all smash characters would be amazing.

#ScorpioReviews - Knock at the Cabin

One of the most noticeable things about the movie is its pace. It starts by going straight to the point and doesn't waste any time getting to the plot. There are some flashbacks that take a step back from the main plot. The movie is about a group of people who believe that the end of the world is coming. They think they know a way to stop it and go to a cabin to convince the family there.

I can't say much more because I believe the revelation is kind of the only purpose of the movie. Overall, it was a good movie but very predictable. There weren't any real plot twists because you knew where they were heading, especially if you're familiar with filmmaker Night Shyamalan's work. We knew it couldn't be a normal movie, but coming from him, I expected a lot more.

As a production, it was well-made but followed a very simple and predictable plot. I would still recommend it to some people, but it lacked an important plot twist or something to cause a major impact. Also, the reasons or purposes of the characters were kind of weak. We didn't have enough information to make it more believable or to confuse the audience into thinking about both possibilities.

It feels like the movie was rushed or as if it wasn't given much importance to fully review it before release. Maybe it was done simultaneously with another production? I can't really tell, but it definitely feels like a lot more could have happened in this movie. I would rate it 6.5 out of 10 - not for being a bad movie, but for wasting a story that could have explored the plot and characters in greater depth.

#ScorpioReviews - Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - 2022

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Black Panther Wakanda Forever starts very emotional. Explaining what happen to Tchalla was connected to what happen to Chadwick in real life. Beautiful way to honor both the character and the person. The first hour of the movie is kind of a catching up to where we are in the plot. Plus they go ahead and reveal the new stuff we will need to understand this film. It was a fun and entertaining first hour.

We got to see Riri Williams which eventually becomes a Superheroe called Ironheart. I believe the original was an MIT student that won a Stark scholarship. She was a scientific genius and fan of IronMan. Which she based her invetions on TonyStark projects. Aslo, I tought she was a funny sweet student with a gentle personality. Well, on this movie we saw RiriWilliams. She was a genius and a young student. But she had a tougher personality and didn't confirmed if she was a fan of IronMan. The government officials did mentioned she built an IronMan suit and the final design had IronMan suit similarities. But never heard if she even met IronMan.

About Namor. Not sure about the full background of the character only the basic. But apparently there are many changes to its origin. Maybe starting from the pronunciation? I believe he was always called Namor as it sounds in English: Nay-More. But here he presented as Namor as in Spanish: Nahmo-r. But then Shuri went on to called him Nay-More so not sure of the correct pronunciation for this version. I didn't know Atlanteans were originally Blue. Didn't like that but hey that wasn't change so it is ok. Also, I didn't know he could fly but that was from the original. Another mayor change was Atlantis. Namor was supposed to be the prince of Atlantis and his people were Atlanteans. But on the MCU it is Talokan City snd his people Talocans. In general, it was a great adaptation of the character. I was afraid that they could ruin it by changing it alot. But since the story had already changed due to BlackPanther character forced change, it was done great. I'm against forced inclusion because it usually leads to a weak plot. But here it was done fine. They actually showed us the background story of Namor without taking too much time but also without rushing the story. They presented the character origin and introduced us to the Mexican culture in the MCU. It was done perfect. From the language, clothing, locations, designs, names, and everything they show us. Much like Wanda with Africa they also did it beautifully with the Mexican culture. They manage to keep the Mutant origin of Namor which was great. A little curious fact is that Lupita NYong that portrays Nakia and is an African-Mexican actress. Born in Mexico but from African parents. Maybe could have used that as an advantage for the movie plot that involves African and Mexican cultures but she move to Haiti instead of a Mexican city. But the scene at end helped understand that she needed to be full Wakandan. Maybe imrelating her to the Mexican culture could have affected her character connection to the Talocans.

A key phrase by Namor raised the voice to for these cultures. Namor mentioned how the outside people were their enemies. He refers to invaders as "OUR Enemies". Referring to how both cultures have suffered from invaders that slaved them and discriminate them still in current time. Remembers how African and Mexican people have suffer from racism and discrimination throughout the decades.

Another thing that stand out is Shuri's personality. She used to be a chill and funny person. But after all her lost and specially her family grief has made her tougher. It has fill her with internal anger and Vengeance. But still manage to keep her funny side which he showed occasionally.

We were introduced to Ironheart, MidnightAngel and Shuri as BlackPanther.

Now the main purpose of this movie is BlackPanther. This has been the topic of controversy for some time now. The unexpected passing of the actor Chadwick Boseman left the MCU without one of the most importan Heroes moving on. This completely changed many movies plots but specially BlackPanther Wakanda Forever. Im sure we would have seen the epic fight between BlackPanther and Namor and probably TChalla relationship with Storm and a probable son with her. But many changes had to be made. After the passing of the amazing Chadwick Boseman many fans demand NOT TO RECAST the character. Not only they were againts a new BlackPanther but also of replacing Tchalla character. Marvel tried to stayed in the dark but eventually recognized that they wouldn't replace BlackPanther for respect to the actor. But after some time fans knew they needed a new BlackPanther. Because it was need for a sequel and probable future MCU movies. But with all the rise of inclusion fans now demanded Shuri to take the throne and become the next Official BlackPanther. Even do she already had her own character and in comcis she was supposed to take her mother mantle. Which she had her own powers. But Shuri also had her technology and was the genuius of Wakanda. The controversy was huge so Marvel stayed quiet again. It was obvious they were planning out the best way to move on but without the pressure of fans. There were many rumors about the next BlackPanther. Some involve using the multiverse, a doppelganger, Shuri, saying Killmonger didn't die, a hidden son or MBaku taking the mantle.  But later after a while Shuri was revealed as the new Black Panther. But was she? No. Again Marvel gave what fans wanted but the main story had a different path. Shuri was chosen as tye temporary BlackPanther. They even show used an emotional path she had to take to deserve the mantle. Her struggles and sadness lead her to rush the process. She created an Artificial Heart-Shaped Herb to received the BlackPanther powers. But without actually believing in the afterlife, her anger and the artificial herb she saw Killmonger instead of another ancestor. Killmonger words convinced her to use her anger to avenge her family. But right st the last moment she repented and manage to stop the war before killing Namor.

Towards the end we learn the true purpose of this BlackPanther path. The moment were Shuri was supposed to show for the BlackPanther duel ceremony she didn't arrived. Instead MBaku show to claim the BlackPanther mantle. So we can predict MBaku might become the Next BlackPanther but still not the Oficial One. Seems Mbaku will be another temporary BlackPanther in case they need him. Because at the end of the film it was revealed the rumors were true. TChalla had a hidden son with Nakia. Even more important his Wakandan name is TChalla. Amazing. Marvel did it again. We will have our original BlackPanther that is Prince TChalla but won't be a replacement since he is the Son of King TChalla. So apparently MBaku will be the next BlackPanther until TChalla's son grows at a decent Age to become the Next an Finally Official BlackPanther. An Official BlackPanther but a the same time a way to honor and keep remembering Chadwick Boseman BlackPanther character. Now the question will be if we will see the son grow naturally or he could skip some Years with some time travel, multiverse or even Quantum event. That might depend on how fast they will need the Official BlackPanther to appear. My guess is they will save him until they introduced Storm from the X-Men and they will finally explore that relationship.

Overall, this movie was well made. From the emotional scenes, the great action scenes, the important information and characters revealed etc. It had a little bit of everything. Must confess I didn't expect much but it was really great. They manage to created a beautiful movie, majestic visuals and great soundtracks. From a person that doesn't know anything about the Marvel movies it could be seen as a 7.0 movie. But taking into consideration the emotional feelings after what had happen and how it continued from there I believe it is an 8.5 movie.

#ScorpioReviews - Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3 I didn't had much hope for this movie since it felt like they were just concluding the story o...
