Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

Well, I heard so much about this movie. The first movie KnivesOut was just ok. The murder mistery style was good but very simple to notice the truth. But this second movie looked completely different. From the trailers the movie just looked silly and goofy. But in the contrary, it was pretty good. Definitely better than the first movie. They decided to add several plot twist to add to the mystery. Still wasn't as difficult but provided more of a challenge. So viewers are ready to try to catch up to every little detail. Motives, places, times, characters, events etc. All that to be ready and try to guess the murder. But from the beginning it started different already. Rather than actually solving a murder at first it was more of a game. So the clues we thought we needed were kind of pointless. So now we try to gather new clues or try to hand on to the idea that something is not right. Either is too simple or they are trying to take a new path. But later we learn the real mystery and now all the simple clues take effect. How many of the small clues did you hang on to and how many of the big clues stick. Plus how many unnecessary clues did we gather along the way and even from those, how many were laid out on purpose as a distraction? Ok, so now we are given different kinds of clues and obviously if you kept up and didn't overthink it you probably knew what happened. But if you believe they are trying to trick us and trying to add take a new approach you are left with many clues that can still lead you to the truth or just misguided you completely. So the movie path is very simple. It was either very simple and the simplenest make you doubt or follow the plot very easily. Or it was very complex and the little twist took you through different paths that distracted you from the truth. Either way Blanc explained to us everything after a certain part of the story. The last "puzzle" or "reason" why it ended it is explained after the last scene. But you can tell if you follow the story after the whole revelation scene. The comedy of the movie is good enough and helps hides some details throughout the story. The characters and cast were good enough choices. Now the movie can go either way in enjoyment and reviewing. If you just watch it as any other movie or if you didn't watch the first one KnivesOut then it is probably just fair. If you try to play along but didn't try to find every detail you might find it just ok. But if you decided to play along then it is pretty good. Yes, the movie might be no big deal and if you take a serious approach you might find the challenge dull. I would recommend just play along and enjoy the ride. If you don't usually try to guess the murder or try to figure out the mystery before the movie reveals it then try it. Give it a try. At the end the movie is about that, trying to solve a mystery. The movie is more enjoyable if you play along since the beginning and try to solve the mystery. Obviously still the mystery it isn't as huge as we could hope but it does provide a level pf interest. Also, for some it is no big deal and the viewers are trying to make more of what the movie actually was. Either way it becomes a better movie if you actually try to solve the mystery. Overall it is a pretty good movie. Not a movie for everyone and can't really watch it again since it loses all its purpose. I will rated 6.5 because it is a decent and entertaining movie. Better than KnivesOut and it is entertaining from beginning to end. Maybe the many twist were a bit excessive, some characters unnecessary, and at times some logic was a bit silly. But overall it was pretty good.

Nope

Nope is a movie where you don't know what to expect. A suspense supernatural film that build the tension in a great way. But most reviews mentioned it already anyways. It's a movie about trying to capture definite evidence of an Unidentified Flying Object. But even then the movie will still surprise you. Don't know much about Jordan Peele as a filmmaker or director. But it was a great movie. Reminded me a lot about M. Night Shyamalan movies. Builds tension, has the horror moments and even a twist to add to the mistery. Even do the he movie release in theaters on July, 22, 2022 and in the Streaming Platform Peacock on November 18, 2022 I don't want to spoil the mistery of the movie. The movie feels real, even with the supernatural genre it makes you feel it could happened. The movie starts to unfold slowly. Starts with some problems then are explained but then new ones appear and the plot keeps growing. When we finally understand the true mistery, it is when we get the most intense moments of the movie. We explore the movie through 3 main characters. Daniel Kaluuya as O.J Haywood the Ranch owner, Keke Palmer as Emerald Haywood (O.J sister) and Brandon Perea as Angel Torres a store Tech. We get other important characters throughout the movie but the focus is mainly on them. The movie develops in an horror atmosphere. Even do it is consider an Horror/Mystery genre I would say is focus more on the mystery. It does have several Horror scenes but the purpose of the story is the mystery. As the movie continues we start to see how everything connects and they keep revealing information to help us understand what the first scenes. Everything wraps up towards the end in a great way. The climax of the movie was intense but it does feels it could have been elaborated just a little more. The final scenes lasted a great amount of time but they separate them into different locations. One of the things I really liked about this movie was the way they explained slowly every detail but towards the end it felt like they were running out of time and was rushed a bit. But still the movie look great  visually, had a great cast and plot. Overall this is a movie I would definitely recommend. It has been a while since I seen a movie in this style. More filmmakers should take the risk and continue making this kind of movies with different supernatural ideas. Maybe I wouos give it an 8.0 but since there is much good than bad I will give it a 8.5. It was a really good and enjoyable movie.

I heard so much about this movie. Directed by the amazing Mexican Director Guillermo del Toro. He presents a new version of the classical Pinocchio' s tale. This is an adaptation of the Italian tale of Pinocchio. It is supposed to be a story that we haven't heard before or at least not as much. The movie stayed in the Top movies of Netflix for many days. Most have a positive review and even called it a masterpiece. Well, I really liked it but maybe people overhype it. It was really good but not as great or unique as many claimed. The art is different and looked great. It is an stop-motion animated musical fantasy film. The cast was also amazing and the movie expressed deep feelings. A truly emotional and beautiful film. Full of moral lessons and helps us reflect about life and death. The movie does an amazing job in fluently telling the story. Each event made sense and were a consequence of what had just happened. But again it wasn't as unique as many claimed. This story reminded me A Lot about the latest Pinocchio film from Disney. It had so many similarities and some events were just explained in a different manner but still happened in both. The story of Geppetto's actual son is rarely explained. But both movies gave us an insight of the real son and how Pinocchio came to life. Maybe Pinocchio Disney version lack a bit of order because some events felt a bit rushed and didn't really made sense. But overall both told us a similar Pinocchio tale. Another huge similarity was Pinocchio acceptance. I feel this is a modern idea that happens either for Inclusion or accepting each person for who they are. The classical tale ended with the Wooden Boy becoming a Real Human Boy. It was some sort of gift for Geppetto and in way the prize or resolution for Pinocchio for being a good boy. But now both version decided to keep him as a Wooden Boy as a sign of accepting Pinocchio for who he is. Not pretending to be the real Geppetto's son he lost. For me, I feel that was unnecessary. We know it is a fictional story and returning the real boy or making him a real boy would have been as emotional as keeping him made of wood. But modern times kind of force that on new films. But well, this Guillermo del Toro Pinocchio went further and told us what happen to everyone as time kept on passing. Meanwhile the latest Disney Pinocchio let us choose. It was left to interpretation wether he became a real boy or stayed made of wood. For me both movies were great. Some had better things than the other but both were great movies. I not much of a fan of watching musicals and both have their musical moments. I feel Guillermo del Pinocchio music were more sentimental while Disney Pinocchio were more Powerful.

Now story based there were small exaggerations. But since it was a fictional film it is ok. Like the first bomb scene, Im sure that bomb should have cause a bigger blast. Or the SeaMonster. That is another similarity on both Pinocchio films. Somehow both decided to remove the classical whale and added a Sea Monster instead. Not sure but, maybe it was change to avoid falling into Biological inaccuracies when staying alive inside the Monster? Not sure but maybe. Another curious event was the Cricket being smashed hard so much but didn't died. Another was when they beat up the monkey, swimming with 1 hand, sea mines, fire scenes etc. But they were small details that really didn't affect the story. Overall it was a great movie that I would definitely recommend. (By the way it would be interesting if Guillermo del Toro made Edgar Allen Poe stories on this format. I feel they would be amazing) I would definitely recommend this movie. I will rate this movie 8.0. The story was told fluently, the emotions were very strong, the moral lessons were great and it was a nice stop-motion animated musical fantasy film.

Black Adam

The movie starts with a quick brief summary of the character. What happened to him and where we are on the current timeline. Then towards the middle we get the rest of the story follow by a small plot twits. It was a great movie but in general, it feels this movie would have been better if it was divided into 2 movies because at some parts it felt rushed.

 Now, the CGI looked a bit weird. Specially when they used it for movement and superpowers, it lack some quality. But even that CGI helped the movie atmosphere. It made it look more creepy by the way they moved or how they used their strength. So it didn't look bad but in other moments it looked way better. One example was the fight scenes that looked amazing and another example was when Dr. Fate multiply itself to fight which looked great. 

The plot was simple but good enough to understand the story. The cast was amazing. Every character fit perfectly with their actor. Dwayne Johnson as BlackAdam, Pierce Brosnan Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman and Sarah Sahi, Quintessa Swindell, Noah Centineo, Bodhi Sabongui were a great surprise. 

About the movie, it was pretty good. They established their plot, added a little plot twist, had plenty of action scenes and it looked visually beautiful. They presented new characters without stopping the rhythm of the movie. We learned just enough to understand each character. Also, they connected the DC Universe smoothly. Nothing was forced and everything had a reason. 

Still not sure why some people didn't like it. I can't seem to find the balance. Some people really like it while others really hate it. It is not as great as some people claimed but it is definitely not bad at all. It is a great DC Movie. Also, based on how bad the new DC films have been, I believe this to be one if not the best DC film so far. Good movies I remember Joker, Wonder Woman 1, Aquaman 1, Shazam and just ok were Justice League (Snyder Cut) and TheBatman. 

Overall it was a great movie that I would definitely recommend it. Even to the point of watching it again to enjoy it further. Maybe what some fans didn't like was that they soften BlackAdam. Based on some versions where he is a Villain or others he is an AntiVillain it was definitely soften a bit. But he still kept his personality and was still cruel to villains. I feel that was ok because if they need him to make collaborations they will need him to be more of a team player to help. I believe he is still an AntiVillain but not so sure how they will combine him with Shazam. Even do both Shazam and BlackAdam were rated PG-13, I feel BlackAdam should have been rated R and Shazam rated just PG. But even BlackAdam had it's small comedy moments so it is possible combine them in a good way.

 I feel this was a Great movie and just what DC films needed to give it a fresh perspective for future DC films. Most of the movie was just great and what fans needed. But maybe the CGI could have been polished a bit. The plot could have been elaborated just a little further on certain parts of the main plot and on certain characters plot so it wouldn't have felt rushed at parts. Also, the chosen Heroes could have been others. The actors were great but the rookie characters Atom and Tornado didn't really fit for a serious threat. Maybe a Manhunter with a Green Arrow could have been better. It was not about strength but experience and matureness. So the movie was great in fact it was so great that it felt they hold back on some moments where they could have made an even greater impact fort he DC fans community. But it is understandable because they put so much effort and love on this movie to give the fans something good. I will rate this movie a 8.0.

Troll, 2022 movie is another example on how Norway is producing quality movies. Directed by Roar Uthaug who also directed Escape 2012, Tomb Raider 2018 and another successful movie, The Wave 2015. 

But, Im comparing this movie to other low budget films. I seen it received many bad reviews. And yes the writing was weak and the plot strength didn't hold throughout the movie. But people are being to harsh. Don't compared this film to a multi million production. Support the risk on taking on this idea and adapting it well into a movie. The Troll CGI looked great. Many say they didn't explored the full actions, attacks and movements a Troll could have done. But I saw they have a limited used of CGI and they distributed perfectly throughout their movie. Is small details like that that explain why they didn't elaborated in certain details or why they chose the paths and decisions we see on the movie. I would recommend people to just watch it. Forget about the technical or professional techniques and critics and just enjoy it. In fact, its is even a family monster movie since it lacks blood and heavy violence.

This is a fantasy movie that explores the idea of a Folklore tale being real. A huge Troll wakes from Dovre mountains in Norway and becomes a threat as it approaches its capital city, Oslo. This is a great movie that payed attention to every detail. It has great acting, great actors, great lighting, CGI, and beautiful locations. The movie is a Norwegian film made in collaboration with MotionBlur and Netflix and it is now available worldwide on Netflix. Even the English dubbed is great on Netflix. The main characters had great chemistry that was probably even better with the original language. The way they approach this movie was interesting. It is a basic movie that gets straight to the point. They give us some background details at the beginning but later follow the main plot naturally. Might not be the best movie that you ever seen but it's great. Norwegian mythology is vast and interesting. There is so much to explore there plus the new and fresh ideas Norwegian film makers must have on other topics.

Overall it was a great movie worth watching. I would definitely recommend this movie. I will rated a 7.0. Not sure the budget they had for this film but I believe it wasn't much. But for a low budget movie it was pretty good.

Halloween Ends

Ok. I wonder about the process of making these 2 last movies. They start great but then turn into something else. Almost as if 2 different people make them apart and then just merged it. The last movie started with 20 good minutes. Then turn into a dark comedy movie. Now this movie started with 40 great minutes then it changed. Not as bad as the last one but still different. At least this movie does have that Halloween movies vibe. Still what last movie did wrong was disrespecting the classic Halloween plot and adapt it to new generations. Seems this movie did the same and treated the original story as something lame and as if they were better and improving it. Now finding a new Michael Myers sounds like a good idea. In fact, it would be nice to continue with future movies and still be related. But maybe the way it was done, wasn't the best path to take. I understand Michael Myers must be around 60 years old or more, so he won't be the same. But still he is the main Antagonist of the whole Halloween franchise. They claimed this is truly the last Halloween movie with Michael Myers so it should be him who finishes big, and they did. At the end Michael Myers was the main killer and got rid of the new one. The best part of the movie was the end. The fight between Laurie and Michael Myers. The final fight was great but didn't last long enough. Still I guess it was good. It kind of resolved everything about the Halloween franchise and gave a proper end to Michael Myers. Maybe Laurie death along Michael Myers could have been better but still it was fine. They even left the possibility of a new Halloween movie. Someone else embracing the evil inside them. But without Michael Myers or Laurie it will be hard to be successful. These last 2 movies were barely holding on thanks to Michael and Laurie. Im sure that without them they would have been much worse. Still there were many things missing and many things they could have tried differently. Like the motives. The motives were so lame and poorly written. Laurie's granddaughter falling in love that fast when she has been struggling to trust a partner? Also, how the bullying judging was increased in this city. For a city that has gone through many deaths it felt weird. Again at times it felt as if the writer was a kid trying to prove he is better than the adults. No need but it happened. Like how Allyson behave as a spoil teenager with her grandmother Laurie. The fights felt force and without much sense. She acted as a teenager but I believe she was already an adult in her 30s. Or how everyone kept blaming Laurie out of the blue. Why? At times it didn't even fit with the plot but someone appeared just to blame her. I feel Horror movies are changing so much. But first I noticed that even on R rated movies you hardly see kids dying. But surprisingly it happened here. In a weird way but that was unexpected. But still Horror movies are changing so much. The only Horror/Comedy movie I remember used to be EvilDead. But now it seems they add dark comedy to every horror movie. It has been a long time since I have actually seen a Horror movie with actual Horror. Most are full of suspense and nothing surprising actually happens. They have become so predictable and they even add drama and comedy to Horror movies. These last 2 Halloween movies felt like it had this simple goofy comedy. Especially Halloween Kills. Or the Chucky show, which is good but it feels it has way too much comedy.

Still it was a good movie. As the last of the Halloween franchise it was ok. 

Overall, it was a good movie. I would recommend it, especially if you have followed the whole Halloween franchise since the beginning. I would rate this movie with a 7.0. It had many bad moments but was definitely better and was an improvement of the last one. As a standalone movie is also a good watch.

(But hopefully they manage to do an extra movie where all the classic Serial Killers are brought together. Not a parody but an actual Horror movie with all the top killers in one place. Something to put Michael Myers as a Killer and that is it. Without much explaining on why he does it. Everyone, all killers set loose at the same time and eventually fighting among each other. Much like Freddy vs Jason. That movie was entertaining it was ok. Still they also added comedy but still it was good. Hopefully they make a massive killers crossover movie.)
